Just read a news article on the BBC website about the extent of mental health issues in teenagers. You have to wonder why this is happening, and could it be because of the immense pressure we put on them. At a time of life which is probably the most difficult in terms of mental and physical development.
The article doesn't really go into the types of issues, but anxiety and self-harm are mentioned.
Thanks for sharing this. An interesting read and the findings really do not surprise me. As usual, they don't really seem too interested in going too deep when explaining the issues. You are probably right about the pressures young people face. I think this comes from across society, especially social media. Young people are bombarded with 'ideal' representations on how to look and perform. It's bad enough being an adult on social media, never mind being a child who may not have the emotional maturity to deal with such pressures.
