Hi all,
We are often so immersed in doom and gloom with the current state of this world and its affairs, so something a bit different...
What has been your highlight of the week?
This could be anything, small, everyday, or something significant. Social media platforms often encourage us to be the 'best' or share the most notable experiences, but the everyday is important too.
So, feel free to share words, a photo, or even a link to something that has made you smile.

Sold our house. Got a proceedable offer. Not as much as we wanted, but the housing market has stagnated and prices are going down, and set to drop further. At least according to the estate agents we've talked to.
However now we need to locate a house we are happy to buy.
I realised that my other highlight came across a bit negative, it was a good thing! I felt good for helping someone. Another great highlight was watching the recent thunderstorms. I didn't take any pictures, but I opened the back door, sat on a dining chair and just watched the lightning and listened to the torrential downpours. Very soothing!
Well my week didn't end so well. Mum has yet another UTI, found out yesterday that a friend had passed away and had been found dead on his living floor and my phone died. Thankfully a nice chap at Apple got me sorted and phone back up and running now.
I guess this isn't a highlight for the lady it happened to, but I guess it was for me. I was travelling to work on the tram (I don't drive so public transport is my only option, and every day is a struggle, thank god for earbuds). As I was nearing work a lady collapsed, just fainted straight to the floor by me. Now I work in a hospital, so there were lots of nurses and medical staff on the tram. But only two of us stood up to help, me and another nurse. The lady regained consciouness quite quickly thankfully, but thew up all over herself and the floor. We reached a stop and the nurse and myself helped this lady off the tram into fresh air and the safety of the stop.
We did our assessments together and ensured the lady was alright. I stayed with her while the nurse went off to get some sugars and fresh water from a nearby shop, leaving me to continue assessing the lady in case she collapsed again, and there wasn't anything more sinister going on for her.
Thankfully she was alright; hadn't eaten, blood sugars were low, heat of the tram etc. had caused her to faint. She recovered quite well and I went on my way to work.
A strange highlight I guess, but it bought home to me the importance of being a human and looking out for people, why I became a nurse years ago and still work in healthcare. Reflection immediately after was that I was very angry at the people on the tram who ignored the lady, but then I realised that not all of us have the confidence to step in (even though the majority were medical staff...). So I'm glad me and the other nurse were there, to do the right thing.
In 2016 I bought some hearing aids as I had moderate hearing loss but I rarely wore them. My hearing gradually deteriorated and although I could hear sounds it was difficult to hear speech clearly.
I therefore decided to invest in some new hearing aids and I collected them last Tuesday. They are so much more technically advanced than my previous ones. I can hear much more clearly and as they are linked by Bluetooth to my phone I can take phone calls on them plus I can listen to music whilst out and about.
As they are also rechargeable I no longer have to worry about batteries any more.
I have felt really good these past few weeks. But this week, my highlight was getting myself some 1kg dumbbells so I could start doing some strength and toning work on my arms.
Hearing from my nephew from Australia that he is in the UK and visiting us soon with his wife.
They do not do social media so looking forward to catching up with them
making the decision to 'centre' my introverted self rather than keep running to it for relief when the world overwhelms me - it's exhausting putting it on a shelf to come back to when I should really be living from it
This week's highlight has to be our ride yesterday.
I was not on form at all, but we still managed to get the climbs in and it was just a really nice ride out from home.
It was great to ride from the front door with no motoring needed 🚴🏻♀️
Couple of things for me.
Number 1, planning a big project with Regional Partnership Board that is hopefully going to help make a difference for unpaid carers.
Number 2, being asked by Physcreg to be interviewed for their YouTube channel.
What a nice positive thread.
We went to see a live show in Bristol on Wednesday. This is the first time we've done this as a family and really enjoyed it.
Things progressing a bit on the house move and looking more positive.
