When someone has touched our lives, it doesn’t matter how long it has been since you were last in contact. Hearing that they have passed will hurt.
When we move through time, we move further away from the moments that we cherished and the people we care for who are no longer here. But we have to live in the here and now. We cannot spend time wishing the past was different, and we cannot make up stories in our minds about what that different would look like. Because it never existed and it never will.
We have to cherish what we had then that went well, and learn from the things that went wrong. We will have regrets, but dwelling on them only removes us from the time we have now. The past is gone, there isn’t an alternative. One day, this day now will become a distant day of the past, whether we remember it or not depends on what came of it.
Life is the here and now. Embrace the time that you have.
A very timely piece and reminder. As you know I recently lost a friend when he suddenly passed away.
